Rong Rong

Rongrong is a Chinese artist born in 1968 in Zhangzhou in China in the province of Fujian. He will begin his career in 1992 as a photographer within the department of the industrial center of art of Beijing. A year later, RongRong will live in the city of Dashanzhuang in China which will be renamed Beijing East Village. He will work with the residents of the neighborhood and will be their documentalist photographer. After the evacuation of the East Village in 1995, he will continue his photographic project, notably with the Beijing 2000 series. This series includes several images evoking the loss of a place and a past linked to Beijing. This series and other projects will be done with the presence of his partner Inri. He will then link architecture and portraits. In 2007 They will found the art center Three Shadows Photography. The first space dedicated to the research, production and exhibition of photography in China.
