On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, Galerie Loft has the honour to present this unprecedented exhibition of Claude Gilli, dedicated to love in all its forms.

The heart shape is an universal symbol of life and as well the feeling of love in popular imagination. The heart possess a visual and unique emotional power. The series “Fire of Love”, Claude Gilli offered a variety of forms on love, shining, smooth and in tense colours.

A game of words, light and mise en abyme. Those lively and vibrant hearts were cut out and produce a visual effect — the depth of pictorial space, which is reinforced by the flame.

Joyful and energetic, Gilli’s works emphasise the importance of simple pleasures and love, while the omnipresent humour reminds us how much he loved the life. In spite of all the difficulties he had, Gilli never stopped his creation, the various topics and the displaced landscape, which characterise his works, a lifelong quest for an ideal happiness.
