ARTIST
Philippe Hiquily is an artist generally better known as a sculptor than as a designer of furniture. However, this second aspect of his work has always occupied a very important place in his life as in his artistic career.
It all started in 1964. Following an exhibition at the Claude Bernard gallery, Viscountess Marie Laure de Noailles, who like Hiquily was exhibiting at the Dragon gallery, placed an order with him. She asks him to make a work, from a piece of porphyry that her husband brought back from Venice. Hiquily makes it a small piece of furniture. The first. He was immediately noticed by Henri Samuel, another decisive encounter in the life and career of the artist.
