Adel YOUNESI created the portrait of Henri IV with a magnificent pictorial quality. This work associates French King with a poem of Omar Khayyam who is a Persian scholar, astronomer, philosopher, and poet, widely considered to be one of the most influential thinkers of the Middle Ages.
His face is presented with the nature, plants and butterflies. Two symboles, the butterfly and the jasmin, illustrate the characters of Henri IV both the sage and bon vivant. The jasmin refers to the king’s love to women, and also to the divine love. Besides, the butterfly evokes the relationship of transformation and renaissance in reference to the king who made self-improvement for better ruling his country. Henri IV’s smile, in this painting, etches both lightness and goodness. This portrait demonstrated a certain sagesse of the king who, without forgetting to enjoy life, saw a life after death and wished to be fair.
