The artist
In the "Yayoi" portrait, Deng Yu creates a portrait of the artist Yayoi Kusama, dotted with the characteristic dots of her work and her famous hairstyle with red creation under the features of a small anthropomorphized rabbit. But the "cute" appearance of the little furry animal that looks like something straight out of a children's book illustration hides deeper thoughts on the medical condition that has kept the Japanese artist living in a psychiatric hospital since the end of her life. In end of the 1970s. Deng yu, fascinated by the work of her eldest, also pays tribute to her love for the world of childhood that she has never left with the symbol of this little rabbit which recalls the stuffed animal that Kusama carries often in her hands during her interviews.
